Box Score On Sunday afternoon, the Alma College Women's Lacrosse team hosted Siena Heights and the team notched another tally in the win column, defeating the Saints 20-8.
"It feels great to get another win and they deserve this win," Alma head coach Laurie Jordan said. "They have been working very hard and these past games have been tough. We made a few mistakes but they did a great job transitioning the ball from defense to attack. Both ends of the field worked hard and I am happy with the outcome of the game."
The Scots came out strong, scoring 13 goals in the first half and allowing their opponent only four. They also outshot Siena Heights by a large margin allowing the Saints only eight. By the end of the game, the Scots had 42 shots while Siena Heights had 20.
Scoring was spread out across the board with seven different players tallying goals. Fr. midfield Tracy Gallihugh (Lansing, Mich./Waverly) started the scoring for the Scots only two minutes into the game.
Gallihugh would total five goals on the day, closely followed by Jr. attack Christie Havrilla (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) who racked up four goals and five assists. Sr. midfield Jessica Page (Alma, Mich./Alma), Jr. midfield Mary Harwood (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron Northern), Fr. attack Addison Duffy (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Lahser), Sr. attack Patricia Reynolds (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central), and Jr. attack Brittney Cole (Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) also contributed to the Scots scoring rally.
Solid defense maintained a low score for the Saints' side and So. goalkeeper Stephanie Herman (Bay City, Mich./All-Saints Central) only had to make one save during her time in goal. She split time with So. goalkeeper Amber Johannes (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lake Shore) who had six saves on the day.
The Scots are now 5-8 for the season and will continue play this Friday at home against Tiffin University.
