Scots lose first-ever women's lacrosse match on Sunday evening

Box Score

Sunday evening was a special night for Alma women's athletics, as the first-ever lacrosse match in Scots history took place, as the maroon and cream took on host Centre College (Ky.). The final score, 21-3 for Centre, was an afterthought as the big news was the fact that a new sport for Alma College took flight.

Alma, under the tutelage of Head Coach Laurie Jordan, fell behind 13-0 in the first period before two goals by Jr. A Christie Havrilla (Okemos, Mich./ Okemos) made the score 13-2 at halftime.

The host Colonels scored the first goal of the second period, before Havrilla notched her third tally of the game with 27:39 left in the game. Centre would finish out the scoring however, en route to a 21-3 final decision.

Alma will play their second game of the Spring Break southern swing on Tuesday afternoon, when they play Berry College (Ga.) in Mt. Berry, Georgia, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
