The Alma Women's Soccer team hosted Carrol University (Wis.) on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 2-0 victory in their 2011 home opener. It was the third consecutive win for the Scots with that exact score and Alma entertains Kenyon College (Ohio) tomorrow afternoon with a 3-0 record.

The Scots scored their first goal at the 7:57 mark, when Fr. Kailey Vlug (Coopersville, Mich./Coopersville) made it 1-0 on assists by Sr. Carly Reising (Ostego, Mich./Ostego) and Jr. Elaine Cunningham (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central).

In the second half, So. Taryn Handyside (Montrose, Mich./Hill-McCloy) gave the Scots the final 2-0 advantage at 59:19 on an assist by So. Autumn Root (Haslett, Mich./Haslett). Sr. GK Monica Witt (Clio, Mich./Clio) earned her third shutout in a row this season, saving all five shots on goal.
