Scots Women's Soccer defeats Kalamazoo College in semi-finals 2-1

Box Score

The home team continued the pressure in the half looking for that third goal, but the Hornets hung tough. However, Alma took the 2-0 lead into halftime against the visitors.

Kalamazoo, a very talented team, played the second half with the desperation you would expect and made the Scots work for the eventual victory. After a couple of good chances earlier in the half, Kalamazoo finally got on the board at the 67:50 mark, when Jr. F Jackie Short, the MIAA's 2nd leading scorer, connected on an assist by Rachel Pitzer to make it a 2-1 game.

However, that is as close as the Hornets would come on this day, as Fr. GK Morgan Waier (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) finished with five saves in earning the playoff victory. Marton and Reising each had two shots on goal for the Scots offensively, while the Scots' defense held Short to just one shot on net.

Alma now advances to the MIAA Tournament Championship for the third time in the last four years - the first two coming up short in losses to Calvin College. Adrian will be playing in their first-ever Championship game after their third all-time win in tournament games today.
