Scots Women's Soccer takes down Albion, 6-1

The Alma Women's Soccer team traveled to Albion College on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a 6-1 league victory. With the win, the Scots are now 10-1-1 overall on the season and 5-1-1 in the MIAA, while the Britons end the day at 0-11 in 2011 and 0-7 in the league.

Alma struck early as So. M/F Taryn Handyside (Montrose, Mich./Hill-McCloy) knocked in a 30 foot shot from Sr. M/F Carly Reising ((Otsego, Otsego) just ten seconds into the game to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Scots increased the lead to 2-0 at the 2:00 mark, when So. D/M Autumn Root (Haslett, Mich./Haslett) connected on a pass from Reising.

Still in the first half, Sr. M Becky Marton (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) scored at 44:09, assisted by Fr. M Kailey Vlug (Coopersville, Mich./Coopersville). Fr. Samantha Waldrop (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) made the score 4-0 at 48:07 on an assist from Sr. M/F Elaine Cunningham (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central).

The final two goals for Alma were scored by Fr. M Ava Peera (Grand Blanc, Mich/ Grand Blanc) andFr. M/F Quinn Huver (Alto, Mich./Caledonia). The Scots will next play on Saturday at Adrian College, beginning at Noon.
