ALMA WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS 7-0 OVER ANDERSON BEHIND A HAT TRICK BY JESSICA SWAN AND TWO GOALS BY ALLI MEURER

The Alma Women's Soccer team completed a trio of weekend of home games on Sunday, and came away with a 7-0 victory against visiting Anderson University at Scotland Yard. The Scots are now 2-5-1 in 2009, while Anderson dropped to 0-7-1 on the season.

Alma scored three goals in the first half, as Jessica Swan connected at 33:19 on an assist by Becky Marton and that was followed by a tally by Annette Stromberg at 42:04, on a helper from Daniela Vasquez. The Scots went up 3-0 at 44:45, when Alli Meurer scored on a goal assisted by Hannah Bauhof and Lauren Haines.

Swan scored the next two goals for the Scots in the second half – at 56:46 and 63:25, with the first being assisted by Tara Fitzsimmons. Meurer gave Alma a 6-0 lead at 67:22 on an unassisted goal and T. Fitzsimmons finished the scoring at 80:05, on a tally assisted by her sister, Kay Fitzsimmons.

Goalkeepers Monica Witt and Missy Quasunella each played a half in the net for the Scots to combine on the shutout.

The Scots next play Wednesday, when they host Defiance College at 4:00 p.m. at Scotland Yard.
