Box Score The Alma Women's Soccer team hit the road again on Sunday afternoon to take on Heidelberg College and came away with a 2-2 tie against the home squad.
The Scots are now 1-3-1 on the season and will take on ranked Washington University (MO) in their home-opener on Friday, September 18 at Scotland Yard. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
"We played a team today in Heidelberg that fought hard all day and we will take the tie and learn from what we saw this afternoon," said Alma Head Coach Jeff Hosler. "I saw our offense coming alive and being better about getting out in front and attacking the net. Freshmen Elaine Cunningham and Ella Blowers really made an impact when they were out there and that is encouraging. I know our girls our anxious to play at home after all this travel and with seven consecutive home matches, it will be nice to take over our turf."
Jessica Swan scored each of the Scots' goals, one coming at 30:26 and the other at 75:39 to deadlock the game at 2-2. Heidelberg scored in the 53rd and 71st minutes of the game to put pressure on the Alma squad. For the game, Alma outshot the hosts by a margin of 21-12 (7-4 shots on goal). Both Emma Heppler and Katie Weicksel tended the net for the Scots.
