ALMA WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS BIG IN HOME OPENER

The Alma Women's Soccer team began their home portion of the 2008 schedule on Thursday and posted a big win against Huntington University by a score of 4-0. The win, in weather that can only be described as frightful with sideways rain and high winds, improved the Scots to 1-2 on this season's campaign while Huntington fell to 0-3.

The Scots outshot Huntington 30-2 for the contest (17-1 SOG) and saw four different players score goals in the game.  In the first half, Alma took a 2-0 lead on tallies by Becky Marton and Emily Monahan as the Scots and GK Emma Heppler benefited from some outstanding defense in front of her for the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, Jessica Swan and Carly Reising hit the back of the net for the Scots and GK Alexandra Kirchner was able to ward off Huntington to preserve the shutout and the win for the home team.  Reising also added an assit, while teammate Kelley Walsh posted two assists of her own for the Scots.

Alma next plays on Tuesday when the host Northwood University, as part of a double-header with the Scots' Men's team, at Scotland Yard beginning at 3:00 p.m.
