The Alma Scots Women's Soccer Team began the 2008 season on the road against a team that is tournament proven and poised for another strong run again this year. The 15th ranked Wittenberg squad defeated Alma 2-0 in the season opener but the Scots held their own against a national power expecting great things again this campaign.
For Wittenberg, Saturday's win extended a home winning streak that dates back to the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Although being outshot for the game, the Scots stymied Wittenberg for most of the contest, only allowing goals in the 24th and 49th minutes of the contest - a good sign for a young team that is looking to be competitive in the MIAA under coach Jeff Hosler, in his third season at the helm.
The Scots play Wilmington College tomorrow at 4:00 p.m before returning to Scotland Yard on Thursday, September 4 to take on Huntington College at 4:00 p.m.
