The Alma Women's Soccer team traveled to Calvin College on Tuesday for a battle for first place in the MIAA, but the Knights came away with a 2-0 victory over the Scots. Calvin improved to 3-0 in the MIAA (8-2-1 overall) while Alma is now 3-1 in the league and 7-5 overall.
After Calvin led the shot totals 8-2 in a scoreless first half, both goals in the game came in the second half. Knights M Elizabeth Ribbens scored on an unassisted goal at the 48:07 mark of the final frame and Carly Prins finished the scoring at 51:32 of off of a pass from Ribbens.
Tara Fitzsimmons recorded both of the shots on goal for the Scots while GK Katie Weicksel made eight saves during the game for Alma.
The Scots' next game is Thursday afternoon when they host the University of Michigan-Dearborn in a non-conference game on at Scotland Yard, with start time scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
