The Scots Women's Soccer Team defeated Saint Mary's College 2-1, on Tuesday, to improve to 5-1 in the MIAA, good for second place in the league.
Alma opened the scoring at the 28:19 mark of the game when F Tara Fitzsimmons (Marshall, MI) scored on a goal assisted by M Britni Patrick (North Muskegon) to give the Scots a 1-0 halftime lead. Alma increased its lead to 2-0 when M Jessica Swan (Romeo, MI) pounded in a 17 foot break away goal.
Saint Mary's closed the gap to 2-1 at the 78:10 mark of the game when M Katelyn Tondo-Steele put a shot past Alma GK Emma Heppler (East Lansing, MI) assisted by Colleen Ferguson.
Alma held on for the win and will next play Adrian College, on Saturday, in another important league tilt.
