WOMEN'S SOCCER: Scots Beat Saint Mary's 3-2, Swan Breaks AC Scoring Record

Alma, Mi. - The Alma College Women's Soccer Team completed their regular season schedule with a win over conference foe, Saint Mary's College, behind the strong play of freshman Jessica Swan (Romeo/Romeo) who scored her 16th goal of the season- setting the new mark for single season goals at Alma College.

The game was a back and forth battle for much of the first period until the Scots got a break as a great ball off a corner kick by Kelly Walsh (Linden/Fenton) was deflected around before being knocked in by sophomore Tara Fitzsimmons (Marshall/Marshall) in the 32nd minute, giving the Scots the 1-0 lead going into the break.

The second half was mostly dominated by the Scots besides a few mental breakdowns that led to Saint Mary's two goals. The Scots got their second goal of the game at the 61:33 mark as Swan got between to defenders and found the back of the net from way outside the box. The goal was her 16th of the season and broke the Alma College Single Season Goals Record that previously stood at 15.

The Scots final goal came eight minutes later as Swan stole the ball from a Saint Mary's player and laced a pass to Katie Boss (East Lansing/East Lansing) who burried the ball in the bottom left corner.

With the win, the Scots placed themselves in 6th place in the regular season MIAA race and set up a match up against Albion College in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. The game is schedule to begin at noon and will be hosted by Albion.
