ANGOLA, Ind. - Alma College women's soccer improved to 4-8-2 (2-3-2 MIAA) with a 4-0 win at Tri-State University Saturday. Alma was led by freshman Kelley Walsh's (Linden/Fenton) two goals as she generated five shots for the Scots. For the game, the Scots held the shooting advantage, 17-5.
Alma got on the board with the eventual game-winning goal from Britni Patrick (North Muskegon) in the 22nd minute on an assist from Kristine Husband (Ferndale). Walsh would get her first goal at the 41st minute on a Geri Gaskell assist. As insurance heading into the locker room, Amanda Metzler (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) converted on a corner kick at 43:55 to give the Scots a 3-0 cushion.
Walsh came out and found her second scoring opportunity of the game in the 65th minute with the assist coming this time from Jen Zernec (Sterling Heights/Henry Ford II).
Walsh leads the team in goals with six while today's game-winner marks the first goal of Patrick's collegiate career.
Ivyrose Hess (Grand Rapids/Central) anchored the Scots in goal, making two saves in 90 minutes of work against five total Tri-State shots.
Alma returns to action Oct. 17 when it travels to Calvin College for a 4 p.m. game.
