ADA, Ohio – After taking the winter months off and preparing for a spring return, the Alma College men's golf team returned to action for the two-day Polar Beaver Spring Easter Classic on Friday, April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th at Colonial Golf Club and Hidden River Golf Club. The men finished the weekend in 11th place with a two-day total of 659 (329-330).
Leading the Scots for the tournament was Andrew Skellenger, rounding out the 36 holes with a total of 155 (+11). Skellenger stayed consistent over the weekend with a 77 on day one, followed by a 78 on day two to finished tied for 20th in the field. Jaden Ducharme was Alma's second-best finisher with a weekend total of 161 (+17) placing him in a tie for 39th overall. Ducharme posted rounds of 81 and 80, also staying consistent over the two rounds. Carter McCave finished tied for 53rd for Alma, posting rounds of 87 on day one and an 81 on day two for a weekend total of 168 (+24). Anothony Kulka finished the tournament with a total of 176 (+32), shooting rounds of 84 and 92, placing in a tie for 59th in the tournament field. Alma's final competitor, Cooper Couch closed out the weekend with a two-day score of 182 (+38), finishing in a tie for 63rd. Couch posted scores of 91 each day for his weekend total.
Host Ohio Northern University's "B" team came away as the team champions with a weekend score of 590 (+14), beating out their "A" team on a tiebreaker. Anderson University (IN) rounded out the top three with a third-place score of 602 (+26). Nick Miller from ONU's "B" team came away as the medalist with a tournament total of 141 (-3), edging out teammate Bennett Christy by one shot. Jimmy Johnston of Heidelberg University finished in third with a 143 (-1), as the only players to finish under par.
Alma will return to tournament action on Friday, April 10th, as they will travel to Allendale, Michigan for the Bob Ebels Invitational, hosted by Hope College. Tee times are set for 10:00 AM.
