SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. – Wrapping up the 2025-25 season schedule, the Alma College men's golf team opened play at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Spring Finale on Wednesday, April 29th, at HawksHead Links. The Scots placed themselves into seventh place after day one with a team score of 321 (+33).

Tying for the team lead for the Scots was Andrew Skellenger and Jaden Ducharme, both posting scores of 75 (+3) to end day one in a tie for 12th overall. Skellenger recorded one birdie on the day, paired with four bogeys and the rest pars. Ducharme collected three birdies on the round, coupled with six bogeys and the rest pars as well. The Scots next finisher, William Lightle, finished tied for 39th with an opening round score of 85 (+13). Easton Weder, not far behind, finished his day with a score of 86 (+14), notching one birdie on his card. One shot behind, Carter McCave finished tied for 46th overall with a score of 87 (+15) to open play for the tournament. Competing as the individual for the Scots, Cooper Couch finished round one with a score of 92 (+20), placing him in 48th overall for the action on day one. 

Halfway through the championship tournament, Hope College leads the team leader board with a day one score of 290 (+2), one shot ahead of second place Calvin University, and five shots ahead of the 37th ranked Trine University. Individually, a four-way tie for first between Garrett James (Trine), Jack Marzolino (Calvin), Matt Turcotte (Calvin), and Patrick Michael (Hope), with scores of 70 (-2), all hold a one-shot lead over Liam Casey of Hope, who also shot under par with a 71 (-1). 

Alma and the rest of the teams will return to final round action tomorrow, Thursday, April 30th, at 9:00 AM to determine the MIAA Spring Finale champion and award the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA National Championship.
