ALLENDALE, Mich. – Finishing out the tournament on a sunny and breezy Saturday in April, the Alma College men's golf team finished 11th as the Hope College Bob Ebels Invitational with a day two score of 317 (+33). The Scots finished with a weekend total of 632 (+64).
Finishing inside the top 20 for Alma was Andrew Skellenger, who posted a day two score of 74 (+3), giving himself a total of 153 (+11), good for a tie for 19th overall. Close behind was Jaden Ducharme, who finished day two with a 79 (+8), bringing his total to 155 (+13), tying for 29th place. Carter McCave posted a day two score of 85 (+14), totaling 162 (+20) shots over the weekend to place tied for 55th overall. William Lightle rebounded on day two with a score of 79 (+8), bringing his weekend score to 170 (+28), finishing in 72nd position. Alma's Individual, Cooper Couch, finished day two with an 87 (+16), totaling 172 (+30) for the tournament, tying for 74th overall. Alma's final finisher was Josh Cooney, who posted a 91 (+20) on day two, finishing with a total of 174 (+32), in a tie for 76th overall in the field.
Ethan Tiller from Calvin University, captured the medalist honors with a one-under 70 on day two, to finish the tournament at level par, 142, winning by three strokes. Garrett James and Jake Bilby of Trine University, Patrick Michael of Hope College and Carter Yurgae of Central College (IA) all tied for second with weekend scores of 145 (+3). Trine University took home the team championship with a two-day score of 58 (295-290), 17 strokes over par, beating Central by 18 strokes total.
Alma will now have a short break before welcoming Westminster College (MO) to Michigan for a dual at Moose Ridge Golf Course, set to take place on Tuesday, April 21st, in South Lyon, Michigan.
