Defending Grand National Champions Occupy First in Hip Hop Division III After Prelims

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Returning to the Ocean Hall Stage as defending National Dancers Alliance Grand National Champions in Hip Hop, the Alma College dance team showcased their 2026 edition of Hip Hop on Friday morning, holding the top spot in Division III after prelims once again.

Team10 posted the highest score in Hip Hop Division III of the morning with a score of 89.4571, almost five points ahead of the second-place competitor. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) holds that second place position with a score of 84.8286, followed by New York University with an 82.4571, rounding out the top three. Bridgewater State University finished fourth with a score of 79.2857 while Southern Virginia University completed the top five with a prelims score of 77.4857, all qualifying for finals. Eastern Connecticut State University and Elmira College also competed in the division, scoring prelims scores of 75.7714 and 75.4286, respectively, to round out the Division III scoring for Friday morning.

Alma will look to capture their third Division III Hip Hop national championship in three years since entering the Division in 2024. Alma also looks to defend their Grand National Champions title, if able, as the Scots were named the first ever Grand National Champions last year in the Hip Hop category, defeating teams in all divisions in attendance.

Alma will return to the stage tomorrow, Saturday, for Hip Hop finals at 9:52 AM. The Scots will perform in the final allotted slot for the division based off their first-place prelims score, knowing what they will have to do to capture another championship.
