DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Alma College dance team hit the stage in Daytona, one final time for Division III competition, showcasing their Hip Hop performance for the Division III finals on Saturday, April 12th. Alma claimed their second consecutive National Championship in as many years in the Hip Hop division, with a finals score of 92.2286.
Alma was atop the standing following their prelims performance as the only team to score in the nineties in Division III Hip Hop. That also stayed true following the results of finals as Alma improved on their prelims score by over a point, along with staying the only team to score in nineties again. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute again finished in second with a finals performance score of 85.1143, improving on their prelims score as well. New York University and Kean University rounded out the teams in finals with scores of 84.1714 and 82.3714, respectively.
ADT has now added their second ever National Championship in Division III Hip Hop after joining in the division for the first time in 2024. Both last year and this year, ADT's Hip Hop scores ranked top five, if not top three, in all other Hip Hop division, regardless of school size. From transitioning to Hip Hop after never competing in the division prior, ADT has made their name well known and brought the energy year in and year out.
Alma will also compete in the Grand Nationals competition for Hip Hop as well as Jazz on Saturday, performing on the stage one final time in Daytona Beach. The Scots from Division III Hip Hop rose to the top and were also named NDA Grand National Champions, defeating all other division winners in Hip Hop for 2025, rewriting history for the program in the first year Grand Nationals competition was offered.
ADT will come home from Daytona with three National Champion banners for the first time in program history as Team Nine has done something that no one else ever has, becoming a Grand National Champion in Hip Hop.
