Alma, MI – Alma College Esports claimed its fourth regular season conference championship in program history on Thursday night, when the Scots Overwatch 2 team shutout Buffalo State 3-0. The win saw Alma complete an undefeated regular season, claiming the title of ECAC Division D Regular Season Champions.
The Scots won game one 3-0 on the map Oasis and earned a 3-0 shutout win on King's Row in round two. In the final round, the Scots won 3-1 on Havana to take the game. Eli Festerling led the team in healing at 41,000,
Logan Wenz had a team-high in eliminations at 55, and Bryce Dehaan recorded the most damage at 32,000.
The Scots outscored opponents by a division best +17 during the regular season, and had a round differential of +31, also the highest mark in the league. With their perfect 7-0 regular season record, Alma has claimed the top seed in the Division D Regional Playoffs. Muskingum University (4-3) who the Scots defeated 3-0 back on February 5, currently occupies the 8
th seed. Alma awaits the result of a make-up game from St. Joseph's (4-2), who currently occupies the 7
th seed, but could end up 8
th with a loss. Alma will have their playoff opponent decided by the time that the first round of playoff action begins on April 2.
