Alma, MI - Representing the Alma College Esports team, Overwatch ended the Fall ECAC season last week, recording 3 wins and 4 losses. The team will look to build on their successes in the Winter season as they make a bid for a playoff appearance.
Week 1 (John Jay 3, Alma 1)
Alma Overwatch started out their season taking the first round off of John Jay in convincing fashion securing the win on Control: Busan. Bryce Dehaan would lead the team in eliminations in game one scoring 4 take downs with his ultimate. John Jay would come back and take the next 3 games and winning the series
Week 2 (Alma 3, Nebraska-Kearney 0)
Bouncing back from a week one defeat the Scots came fighting back ready to show their skill. Eli Festerling would lead all players in healing for the game by doubling his opponents numbers. Eli and the Scots would move on to map number three where Logan Wenz would take over on Reaper and secure the first victory of the season for Alma College.
Week 3 (Alma 3, SUNY Canton 1)
Looking to build on their week three success, Alma would pick a strong brawling team composition with Robert Heemer as the focal point. The team worked together to enable Robert on Mauga so he could secure the match. SUNY Canton would go on to win the third game in the series. Alma College adjusted to SUNY Canton's new defense and rolled into game four securing their second victory of the year.
Week 4 (Buena Vista 3, Alma 2)
At 2-1 the Scots looked ahead to what would be their most hard fought match of the season. The Scots struggled out of the gate dropping the first two matches on Samoa and Survasa. Adjusting their strategy Alma College put on a solid showing on the third map, Colosseo, and took a convincing match back from BVU. For map four the game went to Eichenwalde where Andrew Benton would come up huge for the Scots. In overtime Andrew made the heads up decision to flank objective, pushing the only member of BVU off of objective and losing control resulting in a match finish. Map five would ultimately go to BVU resulting in a 3-2 loss for Alma College.
Week 5 (Central Maine CC def. Alma)
Week 6 (Williamson 3, Alma 1)
Alma went into Week 5 trying a new strategy after adjusting to last week's match. The Scots would once again take a victory on the map Colosseo with Killian Glover leading the team in damage amplification and resurrecting multiple members of the team to keep them in the fight longer.
Week 7 (Alma 3, Pace 0)
The Scots entered into the last game of the season at 2-3. Alma ended the season on a high note taking a convincing 3-0 victory over Pace University racking up round wins on Nepal. Kings Row and Shambali Monastery. Alma came together as a solid unit in their last match of the Fall season solidifying their work throughout the season to improve team cohesion.
Alma will continue the Winter season of ECAC in January and take what they've learned from the Fall semester to push for a playoff spot
