Holland, MI – Alma College Swimming and Diving was in action on Saturday, closing out their season at the 2026 MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships, Presented by Collegiate Credit Union. Alma ended up 4
th in the standings on both sides thanks to a number of scoring swims.
On the men's side, things kicked off in the morning, with
Eli Mull taking 5
th place in the 1650 freestyle, and
Colin Moran taking 13
th.
Morrison Wood placed 15
th in the 200 backstroke, and
Colton Ralko took 16
th in the 200 back and 16
th in the 200 fly.
Brent Riehl won the B final of the 100 freestyle in 9
th, with
Nolan Kaiser,
Max Nielsen,
Owen Reed, and
Sam Couch taking 12
th, 13
th, 15
th, and 16
th respectively.
Cody Benkovsky snagged a 10
th place finish in the 200 breaststroke, with
Kyle Scheck taking 15
th.
Andrew Barrett was 15
th in the 200 fly. Closing things out, the 400 free relay team of Riehl, Mull, Moran, and Kaiser took 3
rd place. The B relay of Wood, Reed, Barrett, and Couch combined to take 11
th.
Alma finished the weekend in 4
th place, scoring 364.5 points. The Scots held off Albion by just half a point to secure the first team finish above 5
th place since the 1999-2000 season.
On the women's side,
Sofia Floros opened the scoring with a 7
th place finish in the 1650 freestyle, going on to take 11
th in the 200 backstroke. Val Vinci took 11
th in the 1650, with
Heidi Ragainis in 13
th, and
Aubrey Hawks in 15
th.
Zoe Barringer was 15
th in the 200 backstroke.
Laney Voisinet took 10
th in the 100 freestyle, and was joined by
Sierra Scott in 15
th and
Delilah Zingelewicz in 16
th. In the 200 breaststroke,
Lily Smith took 9
th, and
Sarah Rabbideau 16
th.
Emma Hoy and
Abi Spitzley took 11
th and 13
th in the 200 fly respectively. Rounding things out, the 400 free relay team of Floros, Zingelewicz, Scott, and Voisinet combined to take 3
rd place. The B relay of
Hannah Sullivan, Barringer, Spitzley, and Hoy took 11
th.
On the diving board, Abigail Dumond took 6
th on the one meter board, scoring her second NCAA qualifying cut. Dumond will be in action at the NCAA Regional as a result.
Alma finished the weekend in 4
th place, totaling 407 points. The result is the first time that Alma has finished above 5
thsince the 2017-18 season, and the first time that the Scots have broken the 400-point barrier at the championship meet since 2013-14.
While the Scots look forward to NCAA action on the diving board, their season in between the lane lines has concluded, and Alma will look to build into the 2026-27 campaign.
