Swimming Concludes Day Two Action at MIAA Championships

Alma's men slid from 3rd place to 5th on Thursday, while the women dropped from 3rd to 4th.

Holland, MI – Alma College Swimming and Diving was in action on Thursday, taking part in day two of the 2026 MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships, Presented by Collegiate Credit Union. The Scots found themselves in 5th on the men's side, and 4th on the women's side.
 
For Alma's women, the night opened with the 200 free relay team of Sierra Scott, Hannah Sullivan, Delilah Zingelewicz, and Laney Voisinet teaming up to take 4th place. The B-relay of Sarah Rabbideau, Aubrey Hawks, Lily Smith, and Katelyn Lamphere combined to take 11th. Individually, Emma Hoy placed 13th in the 500 freestyle, with Zoe Barringer taking 16th place. Abigail Dumond was the lone individual A-finalist on the day for the Scots, taking 8th place in three-meter diving. Rounding things out, the 400 medley relay team of Sofia Floros, Smith, Scott, and Voisinet took 4th place. The B relay of Barringer, Rabbideau, Abi Spitzley, and Zingelewicz placed 11th.
 
After two days, Alma's women sit in 4th place, with 165 points. The Scots are narrowly ahead of Albion in 5th at 163, and trail Kalamazoo in 3rd at 198. Hope College leads with 471 points.
 
For the Scots men, the night opened with the relay team of Nolan Kaiser, Brent Riehl, Andrew Barrett, and Sam Couch taking 3rd place in the 200 free relay. The B relay of Morrison Wood, Max Nielsen, Owen Reed, and Noah Newman took 11th. Individually, Eli Mull placed 11th in the 500 freestyle, with Colin Moran taking 14th. Cody Benkovsky placed 16th in the 200 IM, before Riehl ended up in a tie for 10th place in the 50 free. Also scoring in the 50 was Couch in 13th, Kaiser in 14th, and Barrett in 16th. Closing out the night, the 400 medley relay team of Wood, Benkovsky, Nielsen, and Mull took 4th place. The B team of Moran, Anthony Kulka, Barrett, and Kaiser placed 11th.
 
After two days, Alma's men are in 5th place, with 164.5 points. The Scots are far ahead of Olivet in 6th at 2 points, and trail Albion by 11.5, and Kalamazoo by 13.5 in 3rd. Hope leads with 423 points.
 
Alma is back in the pool tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 10 AM.
