Riehl Lowers 100 Breaststroke Record at Day Three of MIAA Championships

The senior's prelim time lowered his own mark by over a second

Holland, MI – Alma College Swimming and Diving continued competition on Friday at the 2026 MIAA Swimming and Diving Championship, Presented by Collegiate Credit Union. Alma posted a number of time drops and scoring swims, holding their team positions in the standings after three days of competition.
 
For the men, the 200 medley relay team of Morrison Wood, Brent Riehl, Nolan Kaiser, and Sam Couch combined to take 3rd place. The B relay of Andrew Barrett, Cody Benkovsky, Eli Mull, and Max Nielsen took 11th. Brett Gaff took 12th in the 400 IM, with Kyle Scheck taking 13th. Kaiser placed 14th in the 100 fly, with Barrett taking 15th. Colin Moran took 13th in the 200 freestyle, Mull took 14th, and Colton Ralko was 16th. Riehl placed 8th in the 100 breaststroke, with his prelim time of 57.43 shattering his own Alma College record by 1.4 seconds. Benkovsky won the 100 breast B final in 9th and Anthony Kulka was 14th. Closing things out, Wood was 12th in the 100 backstroke.
 
After three days, Alma sits 5th at 262.5 points. The Scots trail Albion in 4th at 273, and lead Olivet in 6th with 11 points. Hope leads the pack at 828.5.
 
On the women's side, the 200 medley relay team of Sofia Floros, Lily Smith, Sierra Scott, and Hannah Sullivan placed 4th. The B relay of Zoe Barringer, Sarah Rabbideau, Abi Spitzley, and Aubrey Hawks took 11th. Emma Hoy took 10th in the 400 IM, with Megan Black claiming 16th. Spitzley went on to take 10th in the 100 butterfly, with Scott coming in 12th. Delilah Zingelewicz won the B final of the 200 freestyle, finishing 9th. Sullivan and Val Vinci finished 13th and 14threspectively. Smith and Laney Voisinet were A finalists in the 100 breaststroke. Smith was 7th and Voisinet 8th, with Rabbideau in 11th, and Marie Halligan in 16th. Closing things out, Barringer came in 14th in the 100 backstroke, with Floros in 15th.
 
After three days, the Scots sit 4th at 284 points. Alma trails Kalamazoo in 3rd, who has 310, and leads Albion in 5th at 237 points. Hope leads at 828.5.
 
The Scots are back in the pool tomorrow to close out the championships. Prelims start at 10 AM, with finals at 5 PM.
