Alma, MI – Alma College Football had a pair of student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Football Academic All-America teams, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators, Academic All-America is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions. Teams are announced year round and amplified by CSC member colleges, universities, and conferences on a wide local, regional, national, and even international scope.
Past AAAs include sports stars such as Peyton Manning, Candace Parker, Katie Ledecky, Drew Brees, Maya Moore, Julie Foudy, Rebecca Lobo, Buster Posey, Heather O'Reilly, Lynette Woodard, Patrick Mahomes, and many others. Public figures include Trev Alberts (Nebraska Director of Athletics), Arne Duncan (US Secretary of Education), Lt. Col. Nicole Mann (NASA Astronaut), James Clear (Author, Atomic Habits), Gail Koziara Boudreaux (President & CEO, Elevance Health), Dr. Myron Rolle (Neurosurgeon), Bill Bradley (US Senator and Rhodes Scholar), Dr. Harry Edwards (American sociologist and civil rights activist), Mark Harmon (Actor), and more.
Outstanding student-athletes are nominated for Academic All-District® recognition by communications directors and must have a minimum 3.50 GPA and meet high athletic standards. (33,000+ nominations annually) A select group of student-athletes advances to the national ballot where CSC members vote on Academic All-America teams. (2,000 selections annually)
A Team Member of the Year is selected in each sport and division. (66 recipients) An overall Academic All-America of the Year is selected as the top student- athlete across all sports in each NCAA and NAIA division. (4 recipients)
Owen Denk, an offensive lineman, and biochemistry major from Williamston, Michigan, was named to the first team. Brock Beaudrie, a safety and business management major from Trenton, Michigan, was named to the second team.
