Football’s Comeback Attempt Falls Short In Eau Claire

 
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The (RV) Alma College football program fought valiantly to escape a 17-0 halftime deficit, getting a shot at pulling off the miracle comeback with a Hail Mary into the end zone as time expired, but the pass was batted down as the Scots dropped its 2026 debut to the Blugolds, 23-15.

Scots' Top Performers:
  • Jason Boge came in off the bench and ignited a spark in the Alma offense, going 4-for-6 (66.7%) for 99 yards (24.8 YPC) and dropped a 46-yard touchdown pass into double coverage to Ethan Hull for both student-athletes' first career collegiate touchdowns.
  • The other score came on the ground courtesy of a four-yard plunge by Cayden Bell, the ballcarrier's first rushing attempt as a Scot.
  • The defensive side of the pigskin was led by Paker Schuman, who produced a game/career-high nine tackles including a half-sack.
  • Jacob Kluk consistently left UWEC with undesirable field position, nailing the hosts inside their own redzone three times in seven punts, averaging 41.7 yards per boot with a long of 51.
  • Tyler Herzog got the start under center for the Maroon and Teal, combining for 141 yards of total offense with a personal-best 45 coming with his legs to lead the run game.
  • Reed Seabase tied Schuman for the tackles lead with nine, five solo takedowns, whereas half-sacks were also delivered by Keegan Bey, Carson Berkompas, and Blake Esselink.
  • Cooper Keene was the primary target through the air, hauling in a contest-best 63 yards on a team-high three receptions (21 YPC).
