2026 Football Season Preview

ALMA, Mich. – Fresh off an 8-3 season that saw the Scots finish undefeated in MIAA play and capture the program's 28th conference championship, Alma College football is ready to turn the page to 2026.The Scots will open the season on the road Saturday, Sept. 5, against Wisconsin-Eau Claire, with kickoff scheduled for 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET.

Under the direction of head coach Jason Couch, Alma has captured three of the last four MIAA championships and enters the 2026 season projected to finish second in the MIAA preseason poll.

Athletes to Watch

Senior linebacker Jett King anchors a talented returning defense. A two-time All-MIAA honoree and 2025 First Team selection, King is looking to earn his third consecutive postseason honor after averaging 7.7 tackles per game last season, which ranked eighth in the conference. He also recorded 4.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and a sack.

Junior tight end Miles Haggart returns following a Second Team All-MIAA campaign and is the Scots' lone returning All-Conference selection on the offensive side of the ball. Haggart ranked among the conference's top 10 in touchdowns last season, finding the end zone five times on just nine receptions. His five touchdowns came on 55.6 percent of his catches.

At quarterback, junior Tyler Herzog enters the season as Alma's leading returning passer. Herzog completed 10 of 14 attempts for 148 yards and a touchdown while appearing in five games last season.Sophomore wide receiver TJ Seiler also returns after making an impact as a freshman. Seiler hauled in 11 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown in five regular-season contests, giving the Scots another dynamic option in the passing game.

Road Ahead

The Scots will begin the 2026 campaign on the road against Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, Sept. 5, with kickoff set for 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET.
Alma will make its home debut the following Saturday, Sept. 12, welcoming Wisconsin-Oshkosh to Bahlke Field for a noon kickoff. The MIAA portion of the schedule begins during Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Sept. 26, when the Scots host Adrian College at Bahlke Field.
