North Manchester, IN – Alma College Swimming and Diving continued dual meet action on Saturday at Manchester University, earning victories on both the men's and women's sides. The Scots posted a 154–133 win in the men's meet and rolled to a decisive 188–29 victory in the women's competition.
On the men's side, Alma set the tone early as the 200 medley relay team of Morrison Wood, Brent Riehl, Andrew Barrett, and Noah Newman claimed first place by nearly three seconds. Eli Mull turned in a dominant performance, sweeping the distance freestyle events with victories in the 1650, 500, and 200 freestyle. Ryan Fowler followed with a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle.
Wood added a win in the 200 backstroke and placed second in the 100 back, while Riehl picked up victories in the 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly. Nolan Kaiser placed second in the 100 butterfly, with Max Nielsen finishing third, and Barrett recorded a third-place finish in the 200 butterfly. Cody Benkovsky added a third-place effort in the 200 breaststroke.
The meet concluded in the pool with the 200 freestyle relay team of Owen Reed, Kaiser, Newman, and Mull taking second place. In the diving well, Cooper Couch claimed the three-meter title and finished second on the one-meter board.
The women's squad was equally impressive, opening the meet with a win from the 200 medley relay team of Sofia Floros, Lily Smith, Sierra Scott, and Laney Voisinet. Val Vinci captured first place in the 1650 freestyle, while Zoe Barringer placed second in the 200 freestyle.
Floros delivered a strong showing with wins in the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle. Aubrey Hawks added second-place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 breaststroke, and Megan Black placed third in the 200 backstroke. Smith was victorious in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, with Delilah Zingelewicz taking second in the 100 breast and third in the 100 freestyle. Sarah Rabbideau finished second in the 200 freestyle and third in the 100 freestyle.
In the sprint events, Voisinet won the 50 freestyle and placed second in the 100 butterfly, while Scott claimed the 100 butterfly title and finished second in the 50 freestyle. Abi Spitzley added a third-place finish. Alma closed out the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay, as Rabbideau, Zingelewicz, Anya Drewnicki, and Floros touched first.
In diving, Abigail Dumond swept both the one-meter and three-meter events, with Maddie McGuire earning second place on both boards.
The Scots return to action on January 24, competing at the second MIAA Invitational, hosted by Calvin University.
