MARSHALL, Mich. – Hitting the course again, the Alma College men's golf team traveled south to the Medalist Golf Glub, for Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2, hosted by The University of Olivet. The Scots finished the day fifth, shooting a team score of 315 (+27).
The low for the Scots came from William Lightle, who finished in a tie for third place, shooting a 73 (+1). Lightle carded three birdies during his round, all of which came consecutively on the back nine. The next strong performance came from Dominic Daversa, who competed as the individual, scoring a 74 (+2), tying for eighth place. Daversa recorded five birdies on his round for the day. Right behind Daversa was Andrew Skellenger, who finished the round with a 76 (+4), finishing in a tie for 13th overall. Skellenger stayed consistent all day with two 38s on each nine. Alma's next scorers were Easton Weder and Jaden Ducharme, who finished the day tied for 35th, carding 83s (+11). Alex Bates was the next Scots golfer on the leader board, posting an 86 (+14), tying him for 44th in the field.
Charlie Dierkes of Albion College and Ford Erickson from Calvin University, tied for the individual low score on the day, both recording 71s (-1), also as the only two players to shoot under par for the round. Calvin came away as the low team score, totaling 297 strokes (+9), ahead of Hope College with 300 (+12) and Trine University with 301 (+13).
Alma will return to MIAA action on Saturday, October 4th, as they will host MIAA Jamboree #3 during homecoming weekend. The conference tournament taking place at Pine River Country Club will start at 10:30 AM to accommodate travelers during the busy weekend.
