TIFFIN, OHIO – The four-game win streak the Alma College women's soccer team put together for the past two weeks was snapped on Wednesday afternoon to the hands of the Student Princes of Heidelberg University. The Scots fell behind the hosts first and battled against time for the remainder of the game as a comeback that would come up short.

The first half was tame between the two squads as neither found many "grade-a" opportunities as offenses were stifled. Heidelberg was able to register two shots on net, both of which saved by Mya Pofahl. The Scots recorded one shot in the first half though not on net. 

Following a quiet first half, just nine minutes into play in the second frame, Heidelberg struck first and opened the scoring. After resetting from the prior goal, the Student Princes applied even more pressure and notched their second of the game just a minute and ten seconds later to add insurance to their lead. Alma looked to respond after the two quick Heidelberg tallies, though it would take some time as both teams settled back down and played their respective games. Around the 18-minute mark, Emily Ahearn was able to grab her second goal in as many games to cut the deficit down to one. The Scots applied pressure the remaining 15 as Alma produced shots and offensive chances, though Heidelberg would hold on as time would expire in Ohio. 

Pofahl finished the game with two saves in about 60 minutes of play while Mallory Fee added another save in her 30 minutes of relief. The Scots finished the game with two shots on net compared to the Student Princes five, along with Heidelberg taking eight corners to Alma's one.

Alma will return to the pitch at Scotland Yard on Saturday, as they will host the Beavers of Bluffton University. Kickoff is timestamped for 4:00 PM.
