WOOSTER, Ohio – The Alma College women's soccer team complete their latter game of a back-to-back for the opening weekend against The College of Wooster on Saturday, August 30th. After starting the season in the win column on Friday, Alma faced off against a team that won 11 games last season and dropped their first contest of the season by a score of 3-0.
Alma fell behind early in the contest as Wooster was able to slip one past the Scots defense four minutes into the game. Alma was able to find their footing and settle down following the early goal, pushing play up and down the field while putting shots on net. The Scots of Wooster would be the team to break the ice next with their second goal of the game at the 18-minute mark. The remainder of the first half saw the score stay the same, though both teams kept the offensive chances coming in waves.
Wooster struck a final time for the game around the 15-minute mark left in the game, stretching their lead to three, as the clock seemed to tick faster for Alma. Following the Scots loss, Alma moves to 1-1 on the season as Wooster jumps out to a 1-0 start in their opener.
Hannah Meyer was the team-high for shots on goal with one in the contest as well as Mya Pofahl collected nine saves in 80 minutes of action. Freshman Min Coulombe made her collegiate debut, collecting ten minutes of time between the pipes.
Alma will now return home for the remainder of the holiday weekend before hitting the road for a game against Indiana University at South Bend on Wednesday, September 3rd. Kick off for the midweek contest is set for 5:00 PM.
