RICHMOND, Ind. – The Alma College men's golf team opened play at the Indiana University East Fall Invitational on Friday, August 29th, for round one of the two-day action. The men currently sit in seventh place after round one with a team score of 307 (+19).

The low scorer for the Scots on day one was Jaden Ducharme, who fired an even par 72, which included four birdies on his card, with splits of 38 on the front and 34 on the back. Ducharme sits in a tie for eighth place following round one action. Competing as an individual for the Scots was freshman Josh Cooney, who fired a collegiate career opening round of 75 (+3), placing him in a tie for 21st in the field. Cooney also carded four birdies on his round and had splits of 37 and 38. William Lightle came in as the next Scots finisher, carding a 77 (+5), sitting in a tie for 32nd following round one. Lightle carded 14 pars for his round and had nines of 38 and 39. Alex Bates and Andrew Skellenger both came in with 79's (+7), tying for 38th overall and contributing to the team score for the Scots. Bates tallied four birdies, and Skellenger added another two towards the team total on the day. Freshman Dominic Daversa finished his first collegiate round with an 80 (+8) to place 44th heading into round two. Daversa also recorded a birdie for his round for a Scots total of 15 through one round. 

Host Indiana East currently sits in first at the conclusion of round one with a team score of 278 (-10), leading by one shot over Vincennes University. Sam Firebaugh of Indiana East leads the individual leader board with a six-under 66, leading by two over Cameron Chattin of Vincennes.

Alma will return to the course tomorrow, Saturday, August 30th, for the second and final round of action at Highland Lake Golf Course. Play is set to begin at 9:00 AM.
