Hip Hop Rises to the Top Following Energetic Prelims Performance

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Alma College dance team returned to the Stage inside the Ocean Hall for their second of two performances at NDA College nationals, this time in the Hip Hop division for Division III. ADT scored a 91.0 in prelims on Friday, April 11th, to sit atop the rankings in first place heading into finals on Saturday.

Alma College was the only team in Division III to score in the nineties as second-place was Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, scoring an 84.1143 and New York University, who scored an 82.4429. Kean university placed fourth with a score of 82.1143, rounding out the teams that will be competing in finals for Hip Hop tomorrow.

In their second year of competing in the division, Alma feels familiar at the top as last year the Scots came away as National Champions with a program high score of 95.7714, which placed third in all divisions of Hip Hop last year. ADT will aim to try to top that score with their finals performance this year as they become 'regulars' in the Hip Hop division. This year, NDA also added a Grand Champion division of performances where winners of each division compete against the other winners in the same division to see who will be crowned the 'Grand Champion'. If the Scots are successful, they will be performing their dance twice tomorrow.

Alma is set to perform for finals at 10:33 AM, with awards to follow shortly after. Grand Champion for Hip Hop would start later into the afternoon on Saturday.
