Advanced All Girl Battles Back for Fifth Straight National Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Alma College cheer team tested uncharted waters come the morning on Friday, April 11th, as they sat in second place in Advanced All Girl Division III. The Scots had not been in second place following prelims since 2019. Alma battled adversity and re wrote the 2025 history books as they threw down a top-tier routine on the Bandshell to come from behind and capture their fifth consecutive National Championship with a finals score of 92.0792.

Alma sat in second place behind SUNY Cortland following their prelims performance, where Alma had some struggles and did not put down a routine that they were the proudest of. As finals approached in the morning on Friday, the Scots eyed down their opponent knowing what they had to do if they wanted to be crowned National Champions again. Alma went out on the mat and performed a cleaner and overall better performance than the day prior, putting themselves into a spot to have a chance at coming back for the title. SUNY Cortland finished with a finals score of 89.8083, trailing two points behind the Scots as the awards came in. Elmira College finished in third with a score of 85.375, followed by Rochester Institute of Technology, who scored a 71.4209. Concordia University-Chicago rounded out the division with a score of 70.925.

"It was a program first to be in second place on day one and come back day two to take the win! I couldn't be prouder of this team and their relentless drive. They committed to the process and now get to forever call themselves National Champions" said Head Coach Michelle Sabourin following their comeback victory on the Bandshell.

Alma will now get the chance to compete in the Advanced All Girl Grand Champion routine on Saturday with the likes of Oklahoma Baptist University, the University of Louisville, and the University of New Hampshire, along with other colleges as well.
