Grand Rapids, MI – Alma College Swimming and Diving took part in day one action of the MIAA Championships on Wednesday night. After the first finals session, the Scots are 5
th on the men's side, while the women are in a three-way tie for 3
rd.
The Scots women opened the evening with two scoring finishes in the 800-freestyle relay. The A-team of
Megan Neeley,
Sofia Floros,
Grace Ludema, and
Laney Voisinet combined to take 3
rd place with a time of 7:55.42. The B-relay of
Kylie Demarets, Madi Mendez,
Megan Black, and
Anya Drewnicki placed 11
th with a 9:03.85.
Alma's men were led in the 800 freestyle relay by the team of
Brent Riehl,
Eli Mull,
Max Nielsen, and
Owen Reed. The group placed 5
th with a time of 7:14.22. Also scoring was the B-relay of
Ryan Gray,
Ryan Fowler,
Seth Stahl, and
Andrew Barrett. The team posted a time of 7:46.21.
Alma's women sit 3
rd with 44 points, tied with Albion and Kalamazoo. They trail Calvin in 2
nd at 52 pts, and Hope in the lead with 62 points. The Scots also lead Olivet in 6
th with 26 points.
The Scots' men are 5
th with 40 points after night one. They lead Olivet in 6
th, who hasn't scored yet. Calvin leads on the men's side with 58 points, followed by Hope with 56, Kalamazoo with 48, and Albion with 44.
