ALMA, Mich. – Hosting their only tournament of the season, the Alma College men's golf team invited the seven other Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association institutions for the third MIAA Jamboree of the season on Saturday, October 4th. The Scots finished in a tie for fifth in the field with a team score of 301 (+17).
Finish as the low Scots score of the day was Jaden Ducharme, who had four birdies in his round, shooting a 72 (+1), tying for fifth place overall. Just a couple shots behind was Alex Bates, who fired a 74 (+3) that included three birdies en route to a tie for tenth place finish. Competing as one of the handful of individuals on the day, Ryan Dahl finished tied for 21st with a 76 (+5) which included three birdies as well. Also tying for 21st was Dominic Daversa, who also shot a 76 (+5), tallying four birdies throughout his round. Competing as another individual, Josh Cooney finished his 18 with a score of 78 (+7), tying for 31st overall while rolling in two birdies. Andrew Skellenger found himself one shot behind Cooney, scoring a 79 (+8) with three birdies to tie for 35th in the field. Tying for 42nd overall was the individuals of Carter McCave, Cooper Couch and Will Stone, as they all fired 82's (+11) with McCave registering four birdies, and Couch notching one. One shot behind was William Lightle, who fired an 83 (+12), tying for 45th overall. Just another shot behind was teammates Anthony Kulka and Cayden Schultz competing individually, who both shot 84 (+13), tying each other for 47th overall. Rounding out the scoring for the Scots was Easton Weder and Lukas Howard, who shot 85 (+14) and 97 (+26), respectively, finishing in 49th and 55th place, competing as more individuals.
Coming in as the low score of the day was Garrett James of Trine University, shooting an MIAA record for Pine River Country Club with a six-under 65, winning by five shots over Jack Marzolino of Calvin University. Trine also came away as the team champions shooting a 287 (+3), finishing three shots ahead of Calvin.
Alma will return to MIAA action on Monday, October 13th as they will travel to Watermark Country Club for the MIAA Jamboree #4, hosted by Calvin University. Tee times are set to begin at 1:00 PM in Grand Rapids.
