Holland, MI — Alma College Swimming and Diving turned in a strong performance at the 2025 MIAA Fall Invite, hosted at the Holland Aquatic Center on Saturday. Alma's women finished in 3rd place, while the men took home 4th, improvement for both sides relative to their 2025 MIAA Championship positions.
For Alma's men, Brent Riehl headlined the meet for the Scots. The senior was the high-point scorer on the afternoon, with his 52 points the most of any swimmer or diver in the entire meet. He captured a victory in the 50 freestyle, with a winning time of 21.33 seconds, following that performance with a runner up finish in the 100 free. He also added a 4th place finish in the 100 breaststroke to round out a productive day in the pool.
Eli Mull delivered a pair of strong distance swims, taking 4th in the 1000 freestyle, and 11th in the 500 free. Colin Moran, Ryan Fowler, Colton Ralko, and Kyle Scheck all finished inside the top 12 of the 1000-yard race to score for the Scots.
In medley relay action, the team of Wood, Benkovsky, Nolan Kaiser, and Noah Newman took 9th place. The team of Andrew Barrett, Scheck, Anthony Kulka, and Owen Reed placed 12th. The freestyle relay team of Mull, Moran, Wood, and Reed took 8th, and the grouping of Barrett, Newman, Max Nielsen, and Ralko took 10th.
On the women's side, six Scots recorded multiple point-scoring finishes in the pool. Grace Ludema led the way in scoring, placing 5th in the 50 freestyle, and 7th in the 1000 freestyle. Sofia Floros placed 6th in the 1000 free, and 9th in the 100 backstroke. Laney Voisinet was 10th in the 1000 free, and recorded a personal best in her 9th place 200 IM finish, and took 16th in the 100 breaststroke. Val Vinci was 11th in the 1000 freestyle, and 12th in the 100 free. Delilah Zingelewicz was 14th in the 1000 free, and 12th in the 200 IM. Sierra Scott was 13th in the 200 IM, and 16th in 100 fly.
On the diving board, Abigail Dumond made a statement, taking home 5th on the one-meter board, and making the podium in 3rd place on the three-meter board. Her three-meter board score of 239.3 was the 6th highest in program history.
In medley relay action, the team of Floros, Lily Smith, Scott, and Ludema took 5th place. The grouping of Aubrey Hawks, Sarah Rabbideau, Abi Spitzley, and Hannah Sullivan took 7th. In the freestyle relay, the team of Zingelewicz, Zoe Barringer, Emma Hoy, and Sullivan placed 9th. The team of Katelyn Lamphere, Spitzley, Vinci, and Smith placed 11th.
Alma is back in action on Saturday at Bethel University (Indiana) for a double dual with the Pilots, and Aquinas College.
