GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – On a calm fall Monday at Watermark Country Club, the Alma College men's golf team competed in their final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree of the fall as Calvin University hosted on October 13th. The Scots ended up tying for fifth place with Adrian College as both teams shot 315 (+27).
Posting the low score of the day for the Scots was Jaden Ducharme, who tied for seventh place overall with a score of 75 (+3), four shots off from the lead. Alma's next finisher was William Lightle, who finished his day with a 77 (+5), sneaking into the top 20 with a T19 finish. Alex Bates came in as the third low score for the Scots, posting an 81 (+9), which tied him for 33rd in the field. One shot behind, Dominic Deversa finished in a tie for 35th with an 82 (+10). Rounding out another 18 holes shooting an 85 (+13) was Andrew Skellenger, tying for 43rd of all golfers. Competing individually was Cooper Couch, who rounded out his day with a 94 (+22), finishing in 51st position.
Jack Besner of Trine University came in with the low score of the day, firing a one-under 71 to finish one shot ahead of a handful of golfers who finished even-par. Benser was the only player under par for the tournament as well. Host Calvin University came away as the team champions by one shot over Trine as Calvin recorded a team score of 297 (+9) on their home course. Trine holds the advantage in the cumulative score from all the fall tournaments as the MIAA will look towards the Spring Finale to take place in 2026.
Alma will close out their fall season with a non-conference tournament at the Hornet Fall Invitational, hosted by Kalamazoo College. The tournament taking place at Stonehedge North is set for a 1:00 PM start.
