Lansing, MI – Alma College Cross Country continued early season action on Friday at the Lansing Invite. The women ran the 5k, with a statement 3
rd place finish, while the men registered a 10
th place finish in the 8k race.
On the women's side, the Scots came out and made a statement, trailing Division II Ferris State by just 9 points in the end. Alma's top finisher was
Melanie Werner. Werner (20:57.0) led a trio of Scots across the line, as the freshman just beat out Erica Slocum (20:57.9) and Sophia Dech (20:59.8). The trio finished 18-19-20, just 3 seconds apart. Lauren Brawt clocked a 21:13.6 to place 24th, and Chloe Colton closed the top 5 for the Scots, finishing in 21:22.4 to take 27th.
For the men,
Will Maginity finished first, placing 44
th with a 29:01.5, just ahead of
Nolan Woodman in 45
th at 29:02.1.
NoahMurphy followed with a 30:39.2 in 78
thplace.
Aiden Aldrich's clocked a 31:03.7, ahead of Ben Dickieson, who rounded out the top 5 at 32:40.5 in 99
th.
Alma finished ahead of MIAA opponent Olivet on both sides for the second straight week, and are in action at the Calvin Knight Invite next Saturday.
