Saginaw, MI – Alma College Cross Country took to the course for their second straight weekend of action on Friday, running at Red October, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University. This comes a week after the Scots were at the Lansing Invite. Alma posted solid results on both sides, with the women breaking into the record books.
Women (Saginaw – 2nd of 4, Muskegon – 5th of 13)
Chloe Colton was Alma's top finisher in both meets. At Red October, her time of 24:54.50 was good for 7
th, and a 19:09.34 nabbed her 24
th place overall at Muskegon.
Melanie Werner has continued a stellar freshman season, finishing as Alma's #2 in both meets. Werner placed 42
nd at Muskegon with a 19:48.02, before placing 9
th at in Saginaw with a 25:06.60.
Lauren Brawt placed 10
th on Friday with a 25:10, building off a 68
th place, 20:29.16 last week.
Caleigh Winters was the next Scot to cross at Red October, netting a 25:12.2 to take 12
th, in Muskegon she placed 59
th with. A 20:09.73. Sophia Dech rounded out the top 5 on Friday. She placed 14
thwith a 25:30.10, after placing 50
th at the Jayhawk Invite with a 19:56.39.
Colton ran the 9
th fastest 5k in Alma history at Muskegon.
Melanie Werner placed 18
th on the all-time list, and Sophia Dech moved into 19
th.
Caleigh Winters also entered the list at 21
st.
Men (Saginaw – 4th of 4, Muskegon – 12th of 13)
For Alma's men,
Nolan Woodman ran a 28:45.10 to pace the Scots, placing 21
st, an improvement over the 28:52 that was good for 119
th at Muskegon.
Noah Murphy secured a 23
rd place finish, in 28:54.60. He placed 86
th the week prior.
Will Maginity placed 26
th in 29:05.40. Maginity was the top Scot at Jayhawk Invite last week. The next Scot to cross the line was
Aiden Aldrich, who ran a 30:26.80 to take 27
th. The time was a 13 second improvement over his 145
th place finishing time from Muskegon. Ben Dickieson rounded out the top 5, placing 31
st in 32:19.90. He placed 159
th at Muskegon.
Alma will start to gear up for the MIAA championships, which are set to take place in Grand Rapids on November 2
