GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Alma College men's lacrosse team continued MIAA play with a road game on Friday, April 21st, against Calvin University at Aquinas College. The Scots were taken down by the Knights by a final score of 16-6.

Calvin kicked off the scoring in the first quarter with a goal four minutes in to take the lead over the Scots. Calvin would score three more goals before the Scots would tally an answer on the board. Drew Gulick put the first Alma goal on the board with an assist from Anar Tumurbaatar, making the score 4-1. Calvin would add another before the end of the first, heading into the second leading Alma 5-1.

Calvin opened the scoring in the second half as well scoring with a man-up opportunity. The Scots were able to find the back of the net from a Kevin Koenn shot on a pass from Byron Weber, cutting into the Knight lead. Alma kept the momentum going with a goal just eight seconds later from Haden Johnson assisted by Tumurbaatar, brining Alma within three. Johnson's goal was the 100th point of his career moving his closer to the all-time Top-10 career point at Alma College. Alma finished the first half scoring with a man-up goal from Ezra Leppanen assisted by Tumurbaatar again with just over a minute remaining, sending the Scots into halftime trailing 6-4.

Calvin would open up the second half with five unanswered goals to pull away from the Scots early before Gulick scored his second of the game to slow the Knights down. Calvin potted two more in the net before long-stick midfielder Kendrick Rhines added another goal for Alma on a pass from Tumurbaatar to give Alma their sixth goal of the game. Calvin scored one more in the third quarter and two in the final frame to put away the Scots, 16-6.

Tumurbaatar led the offense for Alma as he recorded four assists on the night. Gulick led in the scoring department with two goals while goalkeeper Thomas burns led the team with seven ground balls. Ryan O'Loughlin had two caused turnovers to lead the Scots in that respective department. Burns got the start in net for the night and recorded 17 saves over the 60 minutes.

Alma will now host Hope College on Wednesday, April 26th, at Bahlke Field in Alma. Gametime is set for a 7:00 PM faceoff.
