Men's Lacrosse Closes Out Season Against Trine on the Road

ALMA, Mich. – Wrapping up their 2026 season on a sunny Friday evening, the Alma College men's lacrosse team traveled south to Angola, Indiana for a date the Thunder of Trine University. The Scots netted six goals in a defeat to the Thunder by a final score of 20-6.

Trine took the first lead of the game and extended it to three in the first six minutes of play until the Scots found the board and cut the lead down. Brady Searer found Cuyler Fielhauer for the Scots first goal of the game, bringing Alma within two halfway through the first. Trine put together five more goals to build their lead up before the Scots scored the final goal of the opening quarter as Searer was able to net one of his own. 

Trine netted the first two of the second quarter before Alma added their third of the game from Nolan O'Dea while man-up, with an assist from Fielhauer. The Thunder again scored two before the Scots added their final goal of the half, again man-up as Elias Rakoczy found the twine with a pass from O'Dea. 

Coming out of halftime as Trine led 14-4, the Thunder scored the first two goals of the quarter again ahead of an Alma response by Fielhauer at the halfway point of the third. Trailing 19-5 heading into the fourth, Alma was able to match the Thunder in fourth quarter goals with one apiece as Rakoczy scored the Scots final goal from a Lucas Storm pass, bringing the final score to 20-6 in the regular season finale. 

Aside from scoring, Blake Swiger led Alma with four ground balls while winning six faceoffs in the contest. Caleb Morgan again led the Scots defensively with two caused turnovers. Preston Stelljes was the Scots keeper for the night, racking up 21 saves in the game. 

Alma's season will come to a close following the conference finale as the program will graduate ten seniors on the roster for the season. Alma will use the offseason to build towards the future and prepare for another season.
