Men's Lacrosse Defeated By Bulldogs

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Alma College men's lacrosse team hit the road heading to Adrian College on Wednesday, April 12th, for an under the light's matchup with the Bulldogs. Alma was defeated by a final score of 18-6.

Coming out of the gates, the Scots won the opening faceoff and were able to find Drew Gulick, who was able to send one past the Adrian keeper to tally the first goal of the game. Adrian was able to dust off the early Alma goal and answer back with four of their own before Alma would score their next of the quarter. Ten minutes after their the first, Alma was able to put the ball in Patrick Hodges stick who found Haden Johnson open for the second score of the game, cutting into the Bulldogs early lead. Adrian ended up tallying three more in the first, making the score 7-2.

In the second, Alma would be held off the board until final minute where Ezra Leppanen found the back of the net on a pass from Drew Gulick before heading into halftime. The Bulldgos added six more to their team total, making the halftime score, 13-3.

In the third, Adrian scored the first three goals of the quarter before Anar Tumurbaatar took over and recorded the next two goals for the Scots. The first Tumurbaatar goal came while being man-up on a pass from Dylan Smith, while the second came while even-strength, this time assisted by Kevin Koenn. Alma then scored the final goal of the game with less than a minute remaining from Leppanen on a pass from Tumurbaatar.

Both Leppanen and Tumurbaatar recorded two goals in the contest, along with Tumurbaatar adding an assist to the point total. Hodges and Ryan O'Loughlin each scooped up four ground balls to lead the team in the respective category as O'Loughlin led the team with two caused turnovers. Thomas Burns got the start between the posts and played almost half the game before Garin Stearns would take over for about 25 minutes. Parker Macco recorded a save in the final eight minutes in the net.

Alma will now head back home and look towards the weekend as they host Kalamazoo on Bahlke Field on Saturday, April 15th, for senior day. The game will begin a 4:00 PM with senior recognitions to take place during halftime.
