Alma, MI – Alma College Tennis is continuing to develop build out young players as the Scots continue to build under Head Coach Jared Guy.
Despite Alma's men taking their lumps early on in the Spring season, the Scots have continued to show potential, with their younger players seeing the court more often, and improving. It only serves to help the Scots improve in what has become a gauntlet of a MIAA schedule to run through every year. Freshmen Jake Lasceski and Ashton Trnka have no doubt gained valuable experience this season, along with Sophomore August Sack. Senior Marrick Bay has served as a great mentor to the younger players. Also helping to mentor is a quartet of juniors, who along with their leadership and mentoring, will also return to the court to make this Alma team stronger next season.
On the women's side, Alma has seen quite the opposite. The youngest Scots have gotten the opportunity to watch the sophomores and upper classmen. The senior trio of Elizabeth Hill, Summer Stoldt, and Amanda Szymborski have done a great deal of work to lead by example from the front, and aid the incoming classes of Alma Tennis in their development. Alma has also gotten solid play from Sophomores Kayla Weller and Bronwyn McAlindon, the latter of who is helping show what it looks like to be a leader on campus outside of the tennis world. Despite the seniors who are on the courts now, Alma's future is still plenty bright with 5 freshmen that are patiently waiting to show the skills they've been developing this season.
The culture of tennis has also shown through in the academic realm, as both the men and women were two of the highest academic achieving teams on Alma's campus this season. All in all, it continues to be more signs of good things to come for Alma College Tennis.
The Scots will host Albion on Saturday, with the women playing at 11 AM, and the men at 2 PM.
