Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Tennis continued MIAA play on Sunday and Monday, hosting Kalamazoo College and The University of Olivet.
Kalamazoo 8, Alma 1
The Scots were swept in doubles play by the Hornets. Leading 3-0, Kalamazoo picked up 5 more wins in singles play. Alma's lone victory came at #3 Singles when
Kayla Weller won after her opponent retired, with Weller leading 5-0 in the first set.
Alma 8, The University of Olivet 1
The Scots got off to a cracking start in doubles play on Monday evening.
Kayla Weller and
Leah Wronikowski won 8-3 at #1 doubles. The duo of
Karly Kushner and
Jada Zerlaut picked up an 8-1 decision at #2. The #3 doubles team of
Annie Ross and
Holly Hall cruised to an 8-0 win.
Olivet's lone win came at #1 singles where Kushner fell 6-2, 4-6, 8-10. Wronikowsi won 6-1, 6-2 at #2 singles., and Weller dropped just one set at #3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Winning by a similar score at #4 singles was Zerlaut 6-0, 6-1. Hall dominated at #5 singles, winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Ross picked up a win in the final singles slot, winning at #6 6-1, 6-0.
The Scots get set to travel to Albion on Wednesday.
