KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Alma College women's tennis program spent the final weekend of September in a familiar place, taking part in an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tournament on the campus of Kalamazoo College.
 
The doubles team of Leah Wronikowski and Norah Lacher picked up a victory in the Opening Round, cruising to an 8-2 victory over Earlham's Antonia Dean / Ella Flottman-Mullen and then gave the seeded Washington (Missouri) pairing of Lily Brecknock and Emilie Lew some fits before ultimately dropping the match, 8-3, in the Round of 32.
 
Norah Lacher was able to win a set in the singles draw consolation bracket, falling to Wooster's Ana Cheng (6-1, 6-1) before battling her Fighting Scots teammate Sasha Riley, claiming set one (7-5), dropping the second (1-6), and then succumbing in the tiebreaker (3-10).
 
Karly Kushner was the other Alma woman to make the trip to western Michigan, taking on Augustana (Illinois)'s Maripaz Ramirez (2-6, 4-6) as well as Otterbein's Breanna Ball (4-6, 2-6).
 
Next:
The ladies will have its first team match of the fall semester on Tuesday, October 6 at Bethel (Indiana) with a 1 p.m. first serve scheduled in Mishawaka.
