Box Score HOLLAND, Mich. – The Alma College men's lacrosse team traveled to Hope College on Tuesday, April 26. The Scots fell to the Flying Dutchmen, 23-7.
Kevin Koenn kicked off scoring in the first quarter with a pass from Drew Gulick, 1-0. Hope fired back with two goals and Lucas Gratz found the back of the net for a tied game, 2-2. The Flying Dutchmen responded with six consecutive goals for an 8-2 lead heading into the second quarter.
Gulick grabbed the only goal for the Scots in the second quarter with an assist from Gratz. Hope added five goals for a half time score of, 13-3.
Joey Allen found Evan Zarotney in the beginning of the third quarter to put a point on the board, 13-4. Hope found three goals before Anar Tumurbaatar grabbed an unassisted goal, 16-5. The Dutchmen added five more goals to end the third quarter at 21-5.
Ezra Leppanen added two goals, one unassisted goal and one assisted by Tumurbaatar, in the fourth quarter. Hope matched Alma's goals for a final score of 23-7.
Leppanen, Tumurbaatar, Gratz, and Gulcik tied the lead in points with two each. Zarotney posted five groundballs and goalie Thomas Burns had 11 saves.
Next, Alma heads home for their final conference game on Saturday, April 30 against Albion College.
