ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's lacrosse team played at home on Friday, April 22 against Calvin University. The Scots fell to the Knights, 11-6.
The first quarter was all Calvin with two unassisted goals at the five and one-minute mark, 2-0.
Alma found back-to-back goals in the start of the second quarter with one from Drew Gulick and one from Ezra Leppanen assisted by Gulick. Calvin responded with three goals and Kevin Koenn found the back of the net with an assist by Anar Tumurbaatar with one second to spare in the first half, 5-3.
Tumurbaatar kicked off the third quarter with an unassisted goal, 5-4. Calvin added two goals before Byron Weber added a point to the board off a pass from Tumurbaatar, 7-5.
The fourth quarter was led by the Knights with a four-goal streak. Paul Heuschele fired an unassisted shot on goal with one minute on the clock for a final score of 11-6 in Calvin's favor.
Tumurbaatar led the Scots with three points off one goal and two assists. Gulick followed close behind with one goal and one assist. Evan Zarotney posted six groundballs and three caused turnovers whie Goalie Thomas Burns had 12 saves in the net.
Next, Alma heads to Hope College on Tuesday, April 26 for their next competition.
