CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — The Alma College men's lacrosse team traveled to Wabash College on Wednesday, Feb. 23, and won, 18-3, to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Scots started off the first quarter with two goals less than a minute apart from Kevin Koenn and Byron Weber, who were assisted by Anar Tumurbaatar and Lucas Gratz, respectively. Koenn added an unassisted goal to put the score at 3-0. Wabash put themselves on the board at the five-minute mark, but Alma fired back with three additional unassisted goals from Ezra Leppanen, Weber, and Haden Johnson to end the first quarter up, 6-1.
The second quarter kicked off with two goals from Wabash. Koenn responded with one unassisted goal and two more, both assisted by Tumurbaatar, to go into halftime up, 9-3.
The third quarter was all Alma, with three more goals from Johnson, assisted by Tumurbaatar, Ryan O'Loughlin and Koenn. Tumurbaatar found two open spots on the net and Leppanen added one more to put the tally at 15-3 heading into the final minutes of play.
The Scots added three more goals in the fourth quarter, with two from Johnson and one more from Koenn.
Koenn led the Scots with six goals and one assist. Tumurbaatar added two goals and five assists. Goalie Thomas Burns had seven saves on the day.
Alma heads to Sewanee on Saturday, Feb. 26 for their next contest.
