On January 22nd the Alma College Valorant team opened their Winter 2022 season against Anderson University. The team of Jade Harbert, Ethan Honoway, Dylan Self, Jackson Hall and team captain Jason Melnik went into the matchup ready to put practice into play.
The Alma team chose to play Bind for the first map of the matchup. Alma shot out to an early lead and never let go, putting up a 10-2 score at halftime. As the team's switched sides from offense to defense they only needed 3 more rounds to secure a victory. Jason Melnik and Jackson Hall both led Alma in eliminations working together to secure round after round. The Scots were able to close out map one with a final score of 13-2.
As the Scots looked ahead to game two they went into Anderson's map choice of Split. Alma again looked strong out of the gate showing off their team chemistry in the game. Jackson Hall and Jason Melnik again led the way with 20 eliminations while Ethan Honoway and Dylan Self laid down utility to create opportunities for their team. Jade Harbert showed off his incredible proficiency with the operator and held down angles for his team creating picks around the map. The Scots held on to win the game with a final score of 13-7 clinching a win in their first matchup of the season and moving to 1-0!
Alma College Valorant will look to continue their success in week two against University of Mount Vernon Nazarene.
