Box Score ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College men's lacrosse team closed out its regular season with an 18-7 victory over the Kalamazoo College Hornets Friday night at Bahlke Field. After the game, the Scots honored their senior class of Connor Alley, Brandon Wenger, Chase Hunyadi, Connor Gilbert, Alexander Stevenson, and Trevor Bailey.
Bailey led the team with five goals and two assists for a seven-point night. Alley added four goals and an assist. Anar Tumurbaatar posted seven points with three goals and four assists. Haden Johnson also tallied a hat trick in the game.
The Scots got off to an early 3-1 lead before the Hornets came back to tie it. Ezra Leppanen netted a goal late in the first quarter to make it 4-3 Scots after the first 15 minutes of play.
Alma outscored Kalamazoo, 4-1, in the second quarter to push its lead to 8-4 at halftime. The Scots then scored five of the first six goals of the second half to make it a 13-5 game in favor of Alma.
The Scots kept their foot on the gas pedal through the fourth quarter as they outscored the Hornets, 5-1, in the final frame. The 18 goals was the highest for Alma in a game since April 9th, 2019.
Thomas Burns earned his first career win in net for Alma with making four saves through the first three quarters. Parker Macco made eight saves in relief.
Gilbert won 21 faceoffs while picking up 11 ground balls in the contest. Stevenson had five ground balls while Joey Allen had four. Allen also caused the most turnovers on the team with four while Stevenson and Paul Heuschele each had two.
Alma will prepare for the MIAA postseason tournament with the first round scheduled for Saturday, May 1st. Seeding will be decided with a postseason coaches poll
